Special healthcare needs

For children with autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, medical complexity, or simply a hard history with dentists. We go at their pace.

Every appointment is planned around your child before they walk in.

A plan before the first visit

Call us ahead of time and tell us what helps and what doesn’t: noise, lights, who’s in the room, a favorite show, a comfort item. We build the appointment around that, not around a schedule.

Desensitizing visits

Visits where nothing happens except getting comfortable. Sit in the chair. Count teeth. Meet the tools. Leave happy.

Longer, quieter appointments

First or last appointment of the day when that helps, extra time built in, and lower lights and sound when your child needs it.

The same face every time

Dr. Lauren sees your child personally at every visit. Familiarity is half of what makes a hard appointment an easy one.

Being straight with you

Most of your child’s care happens right here, at their pace: exams, cleanings, fluoride, sealants, fillings, and x-rays when they’re able. In-office comfort options are part of the conversation when they’re the right fit for your child.

Some children need a lot of treatment completed at once, and the kindest way to do that is under deeper sedation or general anesthesia in a hospital or surgical setting. When that’s the right call, Dr. Lauren will tell you plainly and help coordinate any necessary referrals or consultations.

Before you come

The more we know walking in, the less your child has to manage in the room.

Please call us at (850) 931-8750 to share this — not the online form.

Diagnoses and medications

Anything that affects how your child experiences a visit, or how we plan treatment.

What sets them off, and what settles them

Sounds, textures, lights, being touched on the face, strangers in the room. And the other side: the show, the song, the person, the thing that works.

How they communicate

Words, gestures, a device, pictures, a visual schedule. We’ll use whatever your child already uses at home.

What happened last time

If there was a bad visit somewhere else, we want to hear about it — without judgment — so we don’t repeat it.

You’re welcome in the room. You’re part of the plan, not a spectator. And there is no judgment here — about how your child behaves or how long it takes.
